Alabama troopers say crash near Dothan kills Florida woman

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say a Florida woman is dead following a single-vehicle crash on a highway near Dothan.

Alabama state troopers said in a statement Wednesday that 65-year-old Ray Catherine Pinkney of Tallahassee was pronounced dead Tuesday night after being taken to a hospital.

The Dothan Eagle reports ( the crash happened Tuesday on U.S. Highway 231. State troopers said Pinkney was a passenger in a Ford Explorer that left the road and overturned about seven miles south of Dothan.

The troopers’ statement said Pinkney was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Explorer, identified as 47-year-old Lucretia Westfield of Troy, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.

State troopers say the crash remains under investigation.
