UPDATE: Sunday morning, Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor announced that a $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the death of 32-year-old Shawn Dorn.
Dorn was found shot multiple times in the trunk of a car in Hurtsboro on Saturday afternoon.
At a press conference Sunday morning, Sheriff Taylor said the car Dorn was found in was registered to his girlfriend, but she gave it to him. The day before, Dorn purchased a tag for the car at the Macon County Courthouse in Tuskegee. Sheriff Taylor said they are trying to track Dorn’s movements as to how he got to Hurtsboro and the circumstances that led to his death.
Sheriff Taylor said this is the first homicide of the year in Russell County outside Phenix City, and his office will get to the bottom of this case.
“I anticipate everybody that’s involved in this case is going to be brought to justice,” Sheriff Taylor said.
HURTSBORO, Ala. — The body found in the trunk of a car in Hurtsboro on Cobb Street has been identified as 32-year-old Shawn Dorn from Tuskegee.
Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor said his office received a call around 10 a.m. Saturday from a resident on Cobb Street. When they arrived, they found a car wrecked in the ditch leaving the driveway. The residents did not know whose car it was or how it got there.
Inside the trunk, the body of 32-year-old Shawn Dorn was found with multiple gunshot wounds. At this time, Sheriff Taylor does not believe this case is related to the two bodies found in Macon County Friday night and Saturday morning.
“We’re going to be busy until we solve it,” Sheriff Taylor said. “We’re going to work this case until we get someone in jail and pay the price for taking this young man’s life.”
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Russell County Sheriff’s Office at 334-298-6535.
