COLUMBUS, Ga. – After just one season as the head coach football coach at Carver High School, Dre’Mail King will be replaced.
His replacement is defensive coordinator Calvin Arnold.
Arnold was Spencer’s head coach for three seasons (from 2012-14), and left after posting a 9-21 record.
King led the Tigers to a 7-5 record, and the second round of the Georgia High School Association 4A playoffs in his one and only season at Carver.
Muscogee County School District Athletic Director Jeff Battles says King and Carver have ‘agreed to part ways.’
King replaced former Carver coach Joe Kegler.
Kegler led the Tigers to a 28-7 record in three seasons as head coach. King was an assistant under Kegler, before replacing him as head coach prior to the 2016 season.
This was King’s first head coaching job in the state of Georgia. He has previous head coaching experience in Alabama.
King was the sixth head coach in 57 years of football at Carver according to records. The school will now be in search of their third head coach in the last six years.
