December is here… and so are Chattahoochee Valley holiday events!

Here is a list of events kicking off December first as the holiday season begins:

10:30 A.M.

Trees for Troops (Fort Benning) — The Trees for Troops program, sponsored by the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation and FedEx Corp., will deliver nearly 800 live Christmas trees to active duty Fort Benning Soldiers and their families.

The trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Wetherby Field to active duty Soldiers and Family members with a valid military identification card.

4:00 P.M.

Holly Jolly Boutique Crawl (Columbus) — Enjoy a one-night-only exclusive holiday shopping event on Thursday night, December 1, from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the historic Columbus Marriott in Uptown (800 Front Ave).

Shop with the most popular boutiques in the Chattahoochee Valley- all under one roof! Win giveaways and shop stocking-stuffers and gifts galore!

Santa will be available from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. taking photos and reading stories so bring the kids!

Plus discover the latest winter trends during the Robin’s Nest Boutique Fashion Showcase happening at 5:30 p.m. with a preview from Posh Peach.

$5 entry, kids FREE.

5:30 P.M.

Best Buddies Tree Lighting (Columbus Riverwalk) — The Second Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on the Chattahoochee is to highlight trees dedicated earlier this year to Best Buddies.

This event will help raise awareness of the Best Buddies mission of inclusion and friendship for people with disabilities.

Rafflle Tickets start at one ticket for $10 or 3 tickets for $25. Funds will be donated to establishing a Best Buddies office and expand programs in Georgia.

6:00 P.M.

Auburn University Tree Lighting (Auburn) — Auburn University is holding its annual holiday lighting ceremony of the Samford Lawn Christmas tree and Menorah on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m.

The event will be held on Samford Lawn and will include seasonal songs performed by members of the Auburn University choirs, readings from a Christmas story and Hanukah story for children and light refreshments. The event will conclude with the lighting of the Christmas tree and Menorah.

The event is free and open to all students and the Auburn community.

WinterFest (CSU, Main Campus) — Columbus State University’s WinferFest kicks off Thursday, December 1 after Tuesday’s rain pushed back the open date.

The FREE holiday celebration invites families and friends of all cultures to an evening of winter wonderland fun.

WinterFest includes performances by local schools and community groups, hot chocolate and sweet treats, the campus lighting ceremony, and photos with Santa and Elsa from Disney’s Frozen.

Join the Columbus State community for holiday fun with the whole family!

7:30 P.M.

Night Of Lights (Phenix City) — The official holiday season kicks off at the Phenix City Amphitheater with a stage performance featuring holiday music and concluding with a beautiful fireworks show over the Chattahoochee River!

Free hot chocolate will be provided for our guests to enjoy as they watch the show! Bring chairs and blankets for extra comfort; coolers and pets are not allowed. The production begins at 7:30 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m, Eastern Time.

This special holiday event is brought to you by Phenix City Parks and Recreation and the Russell County- Phenix City Tourism Department. FREE admission.
