AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn police say officers arrested a man in connection to an attempted murder incident on Thanksgiving Day.

Police say 27-year-old Tony Smith was arrested Thursday, November 24. At around 2:30 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, police responded to shots fired at a home in the 100 block of Maple Street.

Responding officers were given the description of a male waving a hand gun, firing it at someone, then fleeing on foot. The victim was not injured or hit by gun fire; however, a home nearby suffered damage.

An investigation into the incident resulted in Smith being developed as a suspect. He was seen running from the scene and was later identified as the person responsible for shooting at the victim. Police immediately found Smith and took him into custody at a home not far from the crime scene.

Smith was taken to the Lee County Jail and was being held on a $75,000 bond.
