BBB warns consumers the true cost of ‘great deals’

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Cyber Monday is one of the biggest online shopping days of the year, but sales will continue throughout December into the New Year.

Kevin Collins with the Better Business Bureau suggests that consumers create a budget before beginning to shop.  He says consumers will often see a deal and buy the items on sale.

By January, Collins says consumers realize they’ve overspent by the time the bills are due.

“Don’t get blinded by the great deal.  Just because something looks like it’s a wonderful deal take the time to check it out.  Do some comparison shopping, but also make sure that you know where you’re buying that project,” Collins says.

Collins reminds shoppers that refund and return policies are not regulated by law.  They are individual store policies, which may differ between stores.
