ELLAVILLE, Ga — Business will not only be picking up for malls and shopping centers starting Black Friday. It’s also the start of a busy time for local Christmas tree producers.
Watson’s Tree Farm, in Schley County, near Ellaville, officially opened for business on Thanksgiving. However, growing Christmas trees requires year-round commitment.
This year, the drought proved challenging for tree growth, but Watson’s still pushed through with a healthy, beautiful yield without irrigation.
Watson’s owner Roger Bivins says he looks forward to this time of year because he enjoys seeing his customers happy.
“The people. The kids. We do wagon rides, and the kids love to ride the wagons. And the grown-ups, too. They turn into little kids at Christmas time, so it’s a lot of fun just interacting with everyone,” says Bivins.
Watson’s Tree Farm has a Family Fun Day planned for Saturday, December 3. Kids will be able to paint their own ornaments. To learn more about Watson’s Tree Farm, you can call 229-942-3859 or 229-942-6485.
