COLUMBUS, Ga – This morning, News 3 is On Your Side reminding you about a tremendous community resource available. It’s as simple as dialing 211. In fact, it is 211.
211 is a 24-hour information and referral line. It puts people in touch with resources they need, and it also connects those who want to give help and volunteer with agencies who need their assistance.
“It’s a great place. The reason it’s so wonderful is that for every caller, we try to give them multiple sources for assistance because not every agency is going to meet everybody’s exact needs. We try to give people multiple referrals, so they end up with an agency they’re comfortable with, they’re happy with, and an agency that’s going to be able to help them in the best way,” says Candace Poole, 211 Manager for the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley.
A reminder, if you know that you’ll be facing hard times, it’s better to call 211 sooner than later to be proactive.
