ONEONTA, Ala. (AP) — A 69-year-old Blount County man is behind bars on more than a half million dollars in bond, charged with 16 counts of sex abuse against a young girl.
AL.com reports Herbert Writesman, of Hayden, is charged with six counts of sodomy, four counts of first-degree rape, and two counts each of first-degree sex abuse, second-degree sex abuse and sex abuse of a child.
Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey says Writesman was arrested earlier this month, and remains jailed on $885,000 bond.
An affidavit in the case said the sex abuse began when the victim was five and continued multiple times for 11 years. Casey said further information about the case is not being released.
Online jail records do not list an attorney for Writesman.
