Coroner identifies 17th Avenue shooting victim

UPDATE 11/16/16 2:30 p.m. — Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Charles Newton has identified the victim in Tuesday’s shooting on 17th Avenue.

The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Ronald Davis. Newton says he passed away around noon Wednesday at the Midtown Medical Center in ICU.

Davis died from a gunshot would to the head.

His body will be going to Atlanta for an autopsy this week.


COLUMBUS, Ga — Muscogee County’s coroner confirms a man is dead after he was shot Tuesday afternoon near 17th Avenue and Lincoln Street.

Coroner Buddy Bryan says a deputy coroner is on the way to Midtown Medical Center’s ICU as of 12:50 p.m. Wednesday. WRBL will update this page as soon as reporters learn the victim’s name and details on the investigation.

As News 3 reported, police were called to the scene at about 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Neighbors tell News 3 reporters the area has a high traffic of crime.
