OPELIKA, Ala. — The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a man’s murder after he was found dead Monday behind his ex-girlfriend’s rental home.
A press release says deputies responded to a 911 call in the 300 block of Lee Road 114, Opelika at 9:39 p.m. CST. The caller said a person had been shot at a local mobile home park.
Deputies and EMS responders at the scene found 28-year-old Kenneth Justin Williamson of Eufaula in the backyard near the woods suffering gunshot wounds to his chest, back and left arm. They say it looks like the shooter used a handgun.
The release says Williamson was pronounced dead at 11:08 p.m.
Witnesses and neighbors tell deputies Williamson came to his ex-girlfriend’s home uninvited where he was met by two men visiting her. Deputies say two women and two children were also in the home at the time.
The release says no one else was injured during the shooting. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.
Williamson’s body will be sent the Alabama Medical Examiner’s Office in Montgomery for an autopsy.
