COLUMBUS, Ga. – A new director of transportation for the Muscogee County School District will start Tuesday. The Muscogee County School Board voted to appoint Herbert Hill as the district’s director of transportation.
He served in DeKalb County as the transportation supervisor. Hill says safe and efficient transportation is most important.
“Not all students can afford transportation so, just to ensure that everybody has equal opportunity for education. You know, the buses are very important to get those students to their necessary schools,” Hill said.
Hill replaces John Lyles who withdrew his application the day after he was hired in September. Lyles was supposed to replace Frank Brown who was fired back in August after serving four years as director of transportation.
