Four legged former ranger raises awareness for animal veterans

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office visits WRBL News 3 with a very special deputy to show there are some unexpected veterans who still serve the community.

Kori the German Shepard served two tours in Afghanistan with the United States Army Rangers. Now he serves as a Harris County narcotics dog helping the department with criminal drug investigations.

The Chattahoochee Valley Medical Association is hosting a Dog Memorial 5K to honor all the canine soldiers who serve and protect the soldiers defending our nation.

The race will be at Woodruff Riverfront Park starting at 8:30 a.m. and entry fees are $25.

The proceeds will go towards bulletproof vests for the K-9 unit and the Ranger War Dog Memorial.
