AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn police arrested 29-year-old Remus D. Menifield from Opelika Tuesday on felony warrants charging him with Unlawful Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle and Theft of Property Second Degree.

The arrest is the result of an investigation into an auto burglary report filed with police on Monday that occurred at a residence in the 2600 Block of Carrington Court.

An unknown individual unlawfully entered a 2015 GMC Sierra Pickup truck and stole handguns, electronic devices and a backpack valued at over $1,800.

An investigation into the incident resulted in Menifield being developed as a suspect. A subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of property taken during the auto burglary.

The case remains under investigation and additional charges are possible.

Menifield was transported to the Lee County Jail and will be eligible for a $6,000 bond.
