Escaped inmate found in Opelika hotel, authorities say

OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) — An inmate who escaped from the Hamilton Work Release Center has been recaptured.

AL.com reports Adryll Banks escaped from the north Alabama facility on Friday.

Bob Horton with the Alabama Department of Corrections says Sunday Banks was recaptured Saturday without incident in Opelika at about 10:30 p.m.

Opelika Police Captain Bobby Kilgore confirms to WRBL Banks was found at the Red Carpet Inn at 1015 Columbus Parkway.

Horton says a stolen vehicle Banks used in his escape was found at the hotel.

Banks is currently serving a 20-year-sentence for a first-degree robbery conviction from 2012 in Lee County. Horton says he will now face escape and other charges.
