Tailgate inspires kids to pursue educational opportunities

COLUMBUS, Ga.- Thousands of people packed the parking lot AJ McClung Memorial Stadium to tailgate for the 27th annual Fountain City Classic.

People were grilling, shopping with vendors, dancing and enjoying the good weather.

But the tailgate isn’t just a big party. People say it’s used as a tool to show the youth why they should attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Alumni from Fort Valley State University and Albany State University head home after a long day of festivities.

I spoke with several people who say there’s no other weekend like the Fountain City Classic because it brings visitors from across the U.S. to the Valley for a weekend of fun.
