COLUMBUS, Ga. – Northside and Harris County are both two wins away from taking home their respective state championships in softball.
Northside beat Ridgeland 3-1 to stay in the winner’s bracket of the double elimination GHSA 4A state tournament. The Lady Patriots will play Central, Carroll Saturday at 9 am on Field #5 at the Columbus Softball Complex. A win would put Northside in the state championship game, with their opponent needing to beat them twice in-a-row to knock them out. A loss would move the Lady Patriots to the loser’s bracket and into a one-game playoff against the Marist vs Chapel Hill winner for the other spot in the state championship against Central, Carroll.
Harris County defeated Union Grove 8-0. The Lady Tigers will Buford Saturday at 9 am on Field #6 at the Columbus Softball Complex for a spot in the GHSA 5A state championship series. The loser will have to play the winner of the Stars Mill vs Walnut Grove elimination game for the other spot in the state championship series.
Both the 4A and the 5A state championship games will begin at 3 pm on Saturday at the Columbus Softball Complex.
