GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (AP) — A fire official says five people are dead from an early morning house fire in Gwinnett County.
Officials earlier put the death toll from the house blaze at three. But Gwinnett County Capt. Tommy Rutledge tells WSB-TV a total of five people died in the fire Sunday morning.
The blaze happened in a 2-story house in an unincorporated part of Duluth.
A neighbor called 911 to report the fire around 3:30 a.m. When firefighters got there flames were so intense they had to battle the blaze from the outside for 45 minutes before being able to get inside.
Investigators are still trying to determine what started the fire, although neighbors reported that the family had been using their fire pit on Saturday night.
