Coroner identifies pedestrian run over near Hardaway High School

COLUMBUS, Ga — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car Thursday morning on Armour Avenue behind Hardaway High School, Columbus police confirm.

A News 3 reporter on the scene says police presence surrounds the area between the school and the Cloister Apartments complex.

Deputy Coroner Charles Newton says 64-year-old Ockhee Hoskins was hit just after 9 a.m. He says she was taken to Midtown Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 9:51 a.m.

Newton says the driver stayed on the scene until police arrived. News 3 has not yet confirmed if charges will be filed.

Newton says Hoskins’ body will be taken to Atlanta for an autopsy.
