CLEMSON, S.C. (WSPA) – Facebook unveiled a new endorsement feature this week.
The feature allows you to publicly endorse your presidential candidate, and then, if you want, you can even post that endorsement on your Facebook timeline.
After looking at both candidate’s public pages, it’s clear that some Facebook users are already taking advantage of this new feature.
It’s no secret that this is an election year where we have seen lots of name-calling, harsh language, and even fist fights at political rallies. And it hasn’t been much better online.
7News spoke with students at Clemson University to get their take on the endorsement feature.
“I think it definitely adds more conflict, but at the same time, I think it could help,” Trey Childress said.
“I think it’s already so bad, not much more could be done to make it worse,” Tory Meier said. “I think it would just help people get their opinion out there more than it already is.”
To endorse a candidate, you have to go through their official candidate page.
Facebook will also allow you to explain your reason for endorsing a candidate.
