ATLANTA, Ga — Georgia Power announces it plans to cut about 570 positions across the state.
The company’s announcement says most of the positions are in sales and payment offices.
A total of 270 people will be let go and the remaining jobs are already vacant.
Four nearby payment offices will be closing in Manchester, Butler, Buena Vista and Richland. The closings are scheduled to go into effect Thursday.
The Columbus office on Veterans Parkway will not be affected and is expected to stay open.
