CHAMBERS COUNTY, Ala. — The Chambers County Sheriff confirms to News 3 deputies caught a man suspected of a LaGrange kidnapping.
26-year-old David Thaxton led law enforcers on a two state manhunt before he was caught Monday night and transported to Chambers County Jail.
LaGrange police say a call came in to Troup County 911 at about 8 a.m. Monday morning reporting a woman being forced into a black pickup truck at the intersection of Vernon Road and Forrest Avenue.
Officers responding to the call say when they arrived, the truck took off driving from LaGrange towards Alabama on Roanoke Road.
Police say Thaxton jumped out of the truck and disappeared into a wooded area as soon as he crossed over the Georgia-Alabama state line.
The kidnapping victim was found in the abandoned truck. She tells police the man is the father of her children and he had assaulted her.
