News 3 now knows the identity of the woman who was killed in a car crash on I-185N early Sunday morning.
Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley says 24-year-old Meghann Smith from LaGrange died from blunt force trauma pending an autopsy. He says Smith was with three other people in the backseat of a car.
Worley says between five and nine other people were hurt in the crash. The injured were taken to Midtown Medical Center for treatment.
COLUMBUS, Ga — The Muscogee County Coroner’s Office confirms to News 3 one person is dead after a three car crash on I-185. Police say the crash happened Sunday morning just north of the Airport Thruway exit.
Investigators on the scene tell News 3 five people were transported to the Midtown Medical Center with unknown injuries.
Columbus Police say a black vehicle was heading southbound and crossed over the median into northbound traffic, striking a green vehicle. One person in was killed in the initial crash. Officers add a white car was also traveling northbound, and became involved after the original collision.
WRBL’s latest information confirms all northbound lanes and two southbound lanes are shut down. Investigators with the CPD Motor Squad could be out working the scene for as long as four more hours because of weather conditions.
