The Valley reacts to the second presidential debate

COLUMBUS, Ga – Local leaders of both the Republican and Democratic parties say their candidates came out on top following last night’s second presidential debate.

Republicans are praising Trump for addressing the controversy surrounding the leaked tapes—and say it’s time to refocus on the issues of the campaign. Meanwhile, Democrats say Clinton kept herself composed and focused despite being provoked by Trump.

“I thought he was much more detailed in what he was going to do about the country and what his plans were than what Hillary was. I thought she was kind of side-stepping a lot of stuff and really vague about a lot of things last night,” says Rick Allen, Chair of the Muscogee County Republican Party.

“Hillary stayed focused on the questions that they were asking, where Trump was answering in the same method or interrupting and not answering the questions,” says Saundra Ellison, Chair of the Muscogee County Democratic Party.

The final presidential debate will be October 19.
