BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Birmingham police say one man died and two others wounded while playing game of dice.
Police spokesman Sgt. Bryan Shelton identified the victim has 23-year-old Rakim Hawkins.
Shelton tells local news outlets Hawkins was one of three people wounded Sunday afternoon when gunfire erupted on the corner of Ninth Avenue and 44th Place North. All three of the victims were taken to UAB Hospital.
Shelton says Hawkins was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. He said the other two victims are in stable condition.
Shelton said a group of men were playing a game of dice when an unknown man began shooting. He said the suspect then got away in a vehicle and fled the scene.
Investigators have no information on motive at this time, nor have they identified a suspect.
