Talbot County Sheriff’s Office helps recover stolen equipment

TALBOT COUNTY, Ga. – The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office helped recover stolen equipment totaling $130,000 from Mississippi.  Captain Guy Grimsley says he got a call from authorities in Gulfport, Mississippi Tuesday morning reporting a truck, trailer, and backhoe were stolen from an asphalt company.

He says they were reported stolen on September 28th.  The backhoe has a GPS unit and Gulfport authorities tracked it to an address in Talbot County.

“We went there.  Found the backhoe and got information of who was driving it and where it came from so, we went on to that address and found the truck and the trailer,” he said.

Grimsley says they ran the VIN number and confirmed the truck was stolen.  He says they do have a suspect, but have not made any arrests.

The investigation is ongoing.
