LEE COUNTY, Ala — Witnesses tell News 3 a jeep is flipped over and a Lee County school bus is damaged after the two crashed into each other on U.S. Highway 280 eastbound.
Photos show the two vehicles stopped in front of the Speed Zone gas station in Smiths Station. ALEA Corporal Jesse Thornton says the crash happened just after 8 a.m. and only the Jeep driver suffered minor injuries.
Thornton confirms no children were on the bus at the time of the crash.
A gas station attendant tells reporters on the scene the bus driver comes in for coffee every day after he has finished dropping off local students.
Thornton says all lanes on Highway 280 eastbound are now reopened.
