BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Volunteers searching for a missing Walker County couple discovered shallow graves and human remains.
The Jefferson County sheriff’s office indicated volunteers made the discovery Saturday in a wooded area in western Jefferson County.
Investigators say 39-year-old Duston “Dusty” Turner and 30-year-old Jennifer Phillips were last seen at their home in Quinton on Sept. 14.
The sheriff’s office says the volunteers said they were searching the wooded area near where the couple’s cell phones were last used.
Deputies found one set of partially buried human remains in a shallow grave. Deputies also found another area of disturbed ground that is believed to be a second shallow grave.
No identification has been made.
