Local gas crisis threatens supply in the Chattahoochee Valley

PHENIX CITY, Ala.- Those of you on the road have probably noticed the change at gas stations all across the valley.

You can thank a leak in a crucial pipeline in Alabama.

The colonial pipeline rupture has caused a gas crisis up and down the east coast.

250,000 gallons of fuel spilled in Shelby County.

The pipeline provides gasoline for an estimated 50 million people each day.

The disruption threatens to drive up prices, and leave service stations like the Circle K on 431 without fuel.

Only 3 out of 12 pumps there have gasoline.

The Phenix City Circle K is currently out of premium gas.

Once gas stations are completely out of fuel they can call dispatch to bring in emergency fuel.

The gas outage is expected to last for a couple of weeks.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the leak.
