AUBURN, Ala.- Auburn University graduate, Raymond J. Harbert and his wife, Kathryn, committed $15 million for a second business building to be built next to the existing Lowder Hall.
Their contribution was matched by Auburn University.
The new building will be five-stories tall, 80,000 square feet, and will have several adaptable classrooms, auditorium, an ideation lab, breakout rooms, executive board rooms and more.
Bill Hardgrave is the dean of the business school. He said the business school has grown 40% in the past five years and they have outgrown their current space. Dean Hardgrave added that business education has changed and the university has been a leader and innovator in how they deliver that education, adding that the building will keep them on the leading edge in delivering education.
Harbert, a 1982 business school graduate said it is very gratifying to be able to give back to his alma mater, adding that the new building will allow the university to have one of the best business analytics departments in the world.
Ground is scheduled to be broken on the project in Spring 2017, while the building is slated to be completed Summer 2018.
