Civic Center director to replace Uptown Columbus, Inc. and BID president

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Columbus Civic Center director will become president of Uptown Columbus, Inc. and the Business Improvement District.  Ross Horner will replace Richard Bishop who announced his retirement in July coming up on his 11th year with Uptown Columbus.

Mayor Teresa Tomlinson says Uptown has a huge impact on the city as a tourist attraction and entertainment and dining area.

“I’m just so glad that a talent like Ross Horner is going to Uptown and still be serving the citizens of this great city and I wish him well.  We’ll be working with Ross.  We’re very of course affiliated with Uptown.  We’ll still be working with him, but there’s no doubt it’s a loss for the Civic Center,” Mayor Tomlinson said.

Tomlinson is optimistic about finding a new director for the Civic Center to fill Horner’s shoes.  Bishop says the timing is right for him to step down.
