COLUMBUS, Ga. – Harvard, Princeton and Yale are just a few of the school’s vying for Columbus High School football player William Nana-Fabu. The 6’1 275 lb. offensive lineman has a 4.3 GPA and is fluent in three languages.
He was born in Cameroon, but moved with his family to Columbus, Georgia in 8th grade after a brief stint in Utah.
Blue Devils head coach Phil Marino marvels at Nana-Fabu’s talents both on and off the field. “His drive, His willingness to make everyone around him better. His leadership has all been there,” said Marino. “Everything that we expected out of him this year is here. he is just a tremendous player and more than that he is just a tremendous young man,” added the head coach.
The CHS senior has just as much drive to perform on the field as he does in the classroom. “I like the immediate contact. As an offensive lineman, you’re the one that has the first hit, the first punch,” said Nana-Fabu. “I really like that. It’s the core of the team, you know, you’re the backbone,” he added.
He has more than a dozen offers from schools including Brown, Cornell, Coastal Carolina and Marshall. Nana-Fabu is not sure which offer he will take, but he says he wants to major in computer engineering.
Columbus will be featured in the WRBL Prepzone Game of the Week on Friday when they take on Shaw at Kinnett Stadium.
