MACON CO., AL (WSFA) — One person is in custody and another is critically injured after a shooting in Macon County Monday, according to Sheriff Andre Brunson.
Brunson says the shooting happened at County Road 37 and 199.
The victim was shot three times, including in the head, and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The victim’s injuries were described as serious.
Brunson says he was on the way to the scene of a second shooting on County Road 31 when he came upon the suspect on County Road 37. The suspect was armed with an AK-47 when the sheriff spotted him.
According to sheriff, the suspect eventually dropped the weapon, and he was taken into custody. The suspect reportedly had a gunshot wound to the hand.
The rifle and another weapon were recovered.
The sheriff says they are still looking for at least two other suspects in connection to the second shooting on County Road 31. It’s believed the two incidents were related.
