COLUMBUS, Ga — A LaGrange man’s killer is still free and has escaped police for more than a year now. However, investigators say the good news is the public can help close this case. They are certain someone has the power to bring his murderer to justice.
Tobias Ogletree was on the main dance floor of the Good Times Bar and Grill on August 30, 2015, when someone murdered him.
“An unknown person had walked up behind Mr. Ogletree and shot him,” says Sgt. William Nelson, of the Criminal Investigations Division of the LaGrange Police Department.
When police arrived at the scene that night, dash cam video shows a crowd of people on-scene– a crowd that quickly dispersed, with few staying behind to offer police any information.
“The surveillance cameras that we can see from around the location shows us there were people everywhere. What that tells us just by general inference is the fact that somebody saw something. Someone who was in that club that night knows something,” says Sgt. Nelson.
Police hope that the whoever knows about the murder will have an attack of conscience and want to come forward and share what they know for the sake of his family.
“Tobias was a son, brother, and a father. You know, I can only imagine what that mother, and father, and those kids will feel as they get older about why their loved one was taken away from them,” says Sgt. Nelson.
