LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) – A man convicted of killing his girlfriend in her dorm room at Millersville University was sentenced Wednesday.
21-year-old Gregory Orrostieta was sentenced to 20-40 years in prison.
He was convicted of third-degree murder in May for killing Millersville freshman Karlie Hall in February 2015.
“I wanted the maximum sentence for Karlie,” Jeanette Hall, Karlie’s mother said.
Orrostieta told authorities he got into a fight with the woman over spilled noodles, but claimed she had been drinking and fell and hit her head.
Prosecutors say he beat and strangled her.
Orrostieta was found trying to administer CPR to his girlfriend after calling 911, but authorities said he was faking that and she had been dead for hours.
