Community celebrates historic art site

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Columbus community is celebrating an art site near that is currently being restored.  Guests gathered at the Columbus Museum Thursday night to learn more about the rich history of Pasaquan.

Pasaquan is a historic site in Buena Vista that used to be home to eccentric folk artist Eddie Owens Martin.  Columbus State University student Ceallsach Crouch is helping fully restore the site.

Crouch says she was hooked the first time she visited Pasaquan.

“When I heard the history around it, it was described as a utopia, which I wasn’t really convinced about, but once I got there it was a utopia beyond even words that could describe.  It was kind of a blend where past met present met future,” she said.

The grand opening of Pasaquan is October 22nd.  The Pasaquan Exhibit will be at the Columbus Museum through September Fourth.
