With a hot and humid forecast it’s a good thing we have some water events this weekend.
Browse through fresh fruits and vegetables, pastries and jellies at Market in Main Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. edt in downtown LaGrange.
Or if you’re looking for a market closer to Columbus, you can check out local produce, basked goods, flowers and handmade items on Broadway in Uptown Columbus Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon edt.
Learn and look at butterflies at Science on Saturdays – Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. cdt at Kreher Preserve and Nature Center in Auburn.
After a morning filled with science, you can have a science-filled night at Coca-Cola Space Science Center’s Astronomy night Saturday at 9:00 a.m. edt at FDR State Park.
And this weekend’s highlighted event is Whitewater Express’ Friday Night Lights – which doesn’t have anything to do with football – but everything to do with water activities.
It’s from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. edt Friday on the Chattahoochee in Uptown.
“Friday Night Lights is an event that we’re hosting down on the Waveshaper Island – which is just off the Riverwalk. It’s primarily a rafting event, where we have a bunch of our guides down there taking laps on the Waveshaper which is the last rapid of the river. Aside from that we’ll have pizza, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and tubing so you just get free reign over whatever you want to do,” says Daniell Gilbert of Whitewater Express.
The cost to participate is $20 and to spectate is free.
