One dead, four injured in Phenix City shooting

PHENIX CITY, Ala. — Police say they are looking into a shooting that left one person dead and four others injured Saturday night.

Police say the shooting happened at the Frederick Douglas Apartments on 16th Street just after 11:30 p.m. They say a robbery and assault turned deadly, when one of the robbery suspects was shot.

One suspect, 23-year-old Trevelle Williams from Columbus went to Midtown Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. An autopsy will be performed later this week.

A second robbery suspect, Keshaun Goodine from Phenix City was taken to the hospital after being shot in the stomach and was later released. Goodine is now in Muscogee County Jail on murder and robbery charges.

Three victims were also injured. Maurice Jones from was shot in the back and his brother, Sidney, was pistol-whipped in the forehead. Both brothers were treated at the hospital and released.

Frederick Person from Seale was treated at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the knee.
