WOODBURY, Ga. (AP) – Meriwether County officials are getting ready to launch a geocaching trail, centering on the real town of Woodbury, for fans of AMC’s hit zombie series, “The Walking Dead.”
Meriwether County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Carolyn McKinley tells the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer that the county is taking advantage of the fact that much of the popular TV show takes place in the fictitious town of Woodbury. The show is filmed primarily in areas around Woodbury and Coweta County’s Senoia.
McKinley says ‘The Real Woodbury Zombie GeoQuest’ will launch by the end of the month and will lead fans to filming sites around Woodbury, located 50 miles north of Columbus. Geocachers use GPS devices to track and find hidden objects.
Senoia already has zombie-themed shops and walking tours set up there.
