There are plenty of outdoor events this holiday weekend including lots of great fireworks celebrations.
Bring your own picnic dinner, listen to live music and watch ‘Max’ a movie about a war service dog tonight from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. edt at Sweetland Amphitheatre in LaGrange.
Or chill out by the pool with a live DJ and play some games at the Red, White and Cool Pool Celebration at Liberty Bell Pool Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. edt in Pine Mountain.
After that you can head to Callaway Garden’s Fireworks Extravaganza from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Robin Lake Beach.
Or you can see more fireworks on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in Manchester at their Fireworks Celebration.
And of course on the Fourth of July you can check out fireworks and listen to live contemporary praise music on Monday at 7:30 p.m. edt at Phenix City Amphitheater.
This weekend’s highlighted event is the Freedom Celebration and Fireworks Show tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. cdt at Opelika High School track. There will be music by Route 66 and tons of fun inflatables and activities for the kids. The Silver Winds Parachute Team will also bring down the Stars and Stripes on the baseball field at 7:30 p.m. cdt. For the grand finale – one of the largest fireworks shows in the area starts at 9:00 p.m. cdt.
“The whole point is having an event for the entire family where children can have fun and get worn out, adults can come out and kick back and relax, socialize with other members of the community and celebrate our nation’s independence,” says Public Relations and Special Programs Coordinator Laura Leigh Chesser.
This is the 64th year of the celebration.
