COLUMBUS, Ga. — When it comes to adoptions at local animal shelters the younger dogs are often picked over the older ones. But not the case for Darlene the dog! SarahAnn Arcila and her husband just adopted Darlene from Paws Humane in the spring. They say the fact she was almost a decade old and had a skin condition made them love her more. This couple says the 9-year-old dog has returned the favor ten fold.
“Darlene has completely changed our life…that sounds a little bit dramatic, but it’s really true,” says Mrs. Arcila.
This couple is so in love with their newly adopted dog they plan to adopt another senior dog soon. They want others in our area to join them and do the same.
However, adoption is not for everyone, but you can help in a different way. This Sunday, Paws Humane is hosting a free music festival on to help financially support the good work they do. It’s called the “Barks and Blues” and it will be held from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Admission is free! You also might run into the Arcila couple and their sweet senior girl. They say they love what Paws is doing for them and our homeless animals. They say they plan to continue to help the organization as much as they can for as long as they can.
More info is located on the Barks and Blues event on Facebook.
