Many in the Chattahoochee Valley continue to express their love and support for a Harris County deputy a couple of weeks after he was shot on the side of I-185. People are now wearing customized “Back the Blue” wristbands in support for Deputy Jamie White.

Deputy Tim Greene sells the bracelets for $5. Breanna Williams originally created the wristbands. Her husband Kyle worked on the same shift as Deputy White for ten months. He has already sold out of wristbands after filling several orders. Greene says he gets orders from Harris County, Columbus, Phenix City, and other places around the Chattahoochee Valley. Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley says May 28 was a scary Saturday night for all of law enforcement. Deputy White was shot in the face during a routine traffic stop. He has since lost vision in his left eye, partial hearing in his left ear, and has broken his nasal cavity.

Robert Wurst from Columbus bought a couple of bracelets because he says Deputy White still bears the scars from a traffic incident that turned into a near-death experience.

“The guy’s got kids, he’s got to work,” Wurst said. “He has a wife he has to take care of. A wristband isn’t much, but it’s something, you know? You figure a thousand people buy one wristband, that’s $5,000.”
