COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Harris County deputy shot on I-185 Saturday night is out of the hospital and has home on his mind. News 3 was the only local news media on hand as Deputy Jamie White was released from Midtown Medical Center Tuesday afternoon. His release comes three days after a potentially life-threatening encounter with Joe Garrett during a routine traffic stop.

In true blue fashion, Columbus Police, Harris County Sheriff’s deputies, Troup County Sheriff’s deputies, LaGrange Police and Georgia State Patrol cars all escorted White out of the hospital on the way back to Troup County. More Harris County deputies joined the caravan at the Smith Rd. exit (Exit 14) on I-185. White was escorted back to his home in LaGrange, where he will continue to recover.

White is likely to lose vision in his left eye as a result of the shooting.
