White House confirms U.S. strike kills Taliban leader
President Barack Obama confirms Monday a U.S. drone strike in a Pakistani province killed Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansour.
President Obama calls the terrorist leader’s death an “important milestone”. At a meeting with top officials in Vietnam, he says the United States has “removed the leader of an organization that has continued to plot against and unleash attacks on American and coalition forces.”
“Mansour rejected efforts by the Afghan government to seriously engage in peace talks and end the violence that has taken the lives of countless innocent Afghan men, women and children,” Mr. Obama continues in the statement. “The Taliban should seize the opportunity to pursue the only real path for ending this long conflict — joining the Afghan government in a reconciliation process that leads to lasting peace and stability.”
Earth’s next door neighbor coming for visit, Mars most visible in 11 years
Experts at NASA say Earth’s planetary neighbor Mars will be orbiting closer to our planet than it’s been since 2005. What NASA is calling the “Mars Close Approach” will be on May 30 when Mars will be at a distance of 46.8 million miles (75.3 million kilometers).
Mars has already started appearing more brightly as it gets closer and closer. Stargazers Sunday saw the “Mars Opposition” when Mars and the sun were directly opposite each other. If you missed seeing Mars and the Sun rise and set respectively opposite each other, don’t worry — “Mars Oppositions” happen every 26 months.
Chris Brown says baby mama photo of 2-year-old daughter Royalty is inappropriate
Social media is torn over a disagreement between Chris Brown and his baby’s mother Nia Guzman over a photo Guzman posted on Instagram of their 2-year-old daughter Royalty. The photo shows Royalty after a dance class dressed in a tutu and bare legs with knee-high leg warmers.
Brown responds to the Instagram post saying the outfit and Royalty’s pose while sitting looks “risky”, calling it the outfit of a 16-year-old — not a 2-year-old.
While some are calling this just the latest of Brown’s internet “trolling” others agree and say they wouldn’t want their children looking the same.
