COLUMBUS, Ga. – Mayor Teresa Tomlinson says she is excited about the city council candidates who are on Tuesday’s ballot. Tomlinson says one of the major issues Columbus faces as a city is the budget reform.
She tells News 3 they already made a lot great changes, but have delayed some things. This includes buying items such as lawn mowers and garbage trucks.
“The budget will continue to be one of the council’s primary responsibilities and getting it right, getting it straight in this new era we’re in is going to continue to be a challenge as we go forward,” Tomlinson said.
She says the city really needs to start looking at how they are going to fund their pay plan. Tomlinson says there are a lot of hardworking employees who deserve raises.
