White House announces increase to workers qualified for overtime

WASHINGTON D.C. — The White House says employers must pay overtime to workers making a salary less than $47,476.

Officials say the change will go into effect December 1, 2016.

Some employers criticize the move calling it too drastic.

Under the new law, 35% of salaried workers will become eligible for overtime pay — compared to the 7% eligible now.
