Atlanta Falcons linebacker and Columbus native Philip Wheeler was back at Memorial Stadium Wednesday night where he starred for the Shaw Raiders.
He was helping coach kids in a youth clinic for the Atlanta Falcons. The team is doing these kinds of clinics all over the south. Wheeler says it is special to have lived the dream, starting as a kid in Columbus and then making it to the NFL.
“I did dream about it. I dreamed of playing for the falcons of course. I was a falcons fan before i played for the falcons. Because I’m from here, from Georgia, from Columbus, not far from Atlanta, those dreams, they kept me going, you know,” Wheeler said.
Wheeler said the kids should be excited for the Falcons this year. He says Falcons fans should expect a Super Bowl and nothing less.
