TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) — State and local police are working a pair of active scenes in Taunton, Massachusetts.
According to police, four people were stabbed in two separate incidents and the suspect was shot by an off-duty officer. The suspect and two of his victims have since perished, police confirmed.
According to Massachusetts State Police, two people were stabbed at the Silver City Galleria after the suspect crashed a car into the front of Macy’s. It was then the suspect was shot.
An eyewitness on scene said one of the stabbing victims was a pregnant woman.
Police said it appeared two other people were stabbed at a home on Myricks Street. It’s also possible the assailant was involved in an earlier crash on that street prior to the stabbings, according to police.
Police confirmed no one has died but said some of the victims’ injuries are reportedly life-threatening. All were taken to area hospitals.
Police stressed there is no continuing threat to the public.
The suspect’s motive behind the violence remains under investigation.
