LEE COUNTY, Ala.- The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says they need the public’s help with solving a 2008 murder.
On March 23, 2008, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office got a call from a residence on Lee Road 175. When they arrived, they found Michael Lee Jenkins of Phenix City with multiple gunshots. The sheriff’s office says they believe that Jenkins was trying to get away from the person(s) responsible for the murder.
Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says the more time that goes by, the tougher it is to get information on the case. Sheriff Jones adds that all leads have been checked out, but if anyone has any piece of information, they are asked to contact the sheriff’s office because that one piece of information could help solve the case. He adds that the families in these cases suffer the worst. “Everyday goes through their mind,” Sheriff Jones said. “What happened? As time goes by, these cases receive a lot of publicity initially and as time goes by, it fades from the public memory, but not from these families. It’s on their mind every single day. That’s who we are working for.”
If you have any information, you are asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 334-749-5651 or at the Lee County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-522-7847.
