COLUMBUS, Ga.- Many kids dream of Disney, and some local students now have a taste of what it’s like to work for the magical company.
4th grade students at Blanchard Elementary Skyped with a Disney Imagineer– someone who creates and brings to life attractions at Disneyland. One point the Imagineer stressed with the students is the importance of continuing education.
Following the Skype session, student Riley Law said, “You need education in order to move on to college and then you need that to move on to your job.” Student Jonathan Forte added, “Whatever degree you can get from your college can help you get a job that you really want.”
And if you want a job as an Imagineer–you learn quickly by trial and error.
“I learned that failure is something not to be ashamed about because it’s more of learning the new things and getting over the bad things,” says student Kellyn Hobbs.
But most of all, he shared a motto popular at Disney– “If you can dream it, you can do it.” It’s an ideal that inspired Laura Hall to reach out to the Imagineer. She thought it might help the students spark bright ideas.
“I hope it inspires them to want to be an Imagineer or a Glacier Specialist or something like that. Something just to follow their dreams,” she says.
